A Message for the New Decade

When someone mentions Glenrothes Art Club, what type of thought do you get? Is it “a bunch of want-to-be Jack Vetrianos”; or “Rolf Harris look-alikes” getting together in an old building.

Or is it just ordinary people of all ages and walks of life who use the recently modernised and upgraded Glenrothes Art Club?

I believe it is the latter with our great membership using the facilities and organisation to produce some fine art works, as well as having a natter and a cuppa.

Glenrothes Art Club has embraced the new century and made some great upgrades to the building. Yes, we have developed and changed but not moved. We are at the heart of our Community welcoming members from 16 to 90 years old. However the average age of the Club membership is creeping upwards and this must be a focus in the near future.

As we now enter a new decade, I am quietly confident that with the existing loyal membership and our forthcoming recruitment drive for the next generations of new members, the Art Club will build on previous success and high standing in the community.

So, interested in Arts and Crafts? Not yet using the facilities of Glenrothes Art Club? Well, come along and find out what is on your doorstep!

Glenrothes Art Club was formed in 1955, so we are now in our 55th year. Here’s to another 55 years of Art!

Richard Toole

President.
