Established in 1955, we are a mixed bunch here, makers, scribblers, stitchers, painters, learners (always), make do and menders. Fortunate to have this marvellous, light airy space to create in, we welcome beginners and skilled artists alike, as well as kids and young adults at the beginning of their art journeys.
Open to anyone with energy, excitement, ideas to learn and share, grow and inspire. It’s a friendly welcoming space whether you just want to pop in and work away on your own, join in tutored or self tutored groups, research in our extensive library, or just pop in to say Hi and see what’s going on.
Checkout our workshops/classes page we have a number of classes running and more in the planning, AND are always open to suggestions for new classes / workshop ideas.
We normally exhibit once a year as a group showcasing members’ work, but members can also rent out our space for individual exhibitions too.
Feel free to contact us and we can arrange for you to visit our studio to check it out before you join.

We pride ourselves on being a welcoming bunch, happy to connect, chat, share, learn and listen. All are welcome from absolute beginners to those that have a bit of knowledge and experience under their belts.
There is ample space in the main open plan area for setting up an easel or area to paint/draw/create in. We also have a small more private room to work in should you need a quieter space. This room has a well stocked supply of art materials and equipment for use by members.
We have a light and spacious craft room with an abundant supply of fabrics, threads, trimmings, sewing machine, overlocker, scissors, tools and equipment, again all available to members.
Main Open Plan Space.
This area has many tables and chairs set up allowing plenty of space to work in, suitable for workshops, groups and individuals to create. Members also have the opportunity to hire this space for exhibitions either individually or as a group. And by the way we have had daylight bulbs installed here so excellent conditions for painting/working in.
We have an extensive art library for members housing some excellent contemporary and traditional art books. This room also has access to an image tracing machine and projector. You could lose yourself for hours in this room.
The Art Club has a large (lockable) storage cupboard where members can bring and store a box of supplies to save constantly carrying materials backwards and forwards to the club.
We are fortunate to have a well equipped kitchen with kettle, microwave, cooker, crockery and fridge also available to members.
Ladies and gents toilets are both wheelchair accessible.
There is a small sink (in a separate room from the kitchen) for cleaning paint brushes etc.
